Dirk Hanel ::: Kiteboarding

Now the second main Kitespeed event has taken place in Fuerteventura. In the end Dirk Hanel could place third at the 10000 EUR event. It was Sebastian Cattelan who was hot and could win 3 out of the 4 heats. For a long time is was a battle between Dirk and Christophe Prin-Guenon for second place. Until the third heat both where with 5 points on second place in the overall ranking. Dirk was in first position for almost the whole third heat and just a view minutes before the end Christophe could go a few tens of a second faster.

The wind and water conditions during almost the entire event never reached the possibilities for this great spot in Sotavento. Therefore there was never a chance to really ride record breaking times. But even in those conditions Dirk was able to place in the top three with the new Rhino 06 kites and the boards from Fanatic shaper Harry Brehm.With the new Fanatic Dr Gonzo twinspeed board Dirk managed to get a 35,26 knots over the 500 meter course and this is by far a inofficial Serialboard Worldrecord.

We will see what will happen in Oktober in Walvis Bay when all the top riders will be at this great spot again.
